What makes Expats successful on the Internet?
1) Offer a genuine product or service and write about that on your website.
That’s it. There is no 2).
Proof:
a) Google ‘tracks’ their users; if a user of their search-engine clicks on the link to your web site on one of their result-pages, and then very quick returns back; then Google concludes that your website is obviously not what the searcher was looking for…
And then your website moves to page 436 where nobody sees it.
So you need to have a website which people like to read; they stay long and Google rewards you with a higher position in the search engines.
b) SOCIAL MEDIA; for example see http://sibonga.com/construction-blog/?page_id=73
at the bottom of that page you see Facebook, Twitter an another SHARE button.
That’s a good way to see how many people are TELLING ABOUT YOUR WEB-PAGE TO OTHERS…
The ‘network’ (friends, colleagues etc.) of the people who SHARE (who are likely also interested in you) will see your website, and they might SHARE to their network, and so on, etc.
They hopefully even talk about you on their blogs which gives you backlinks hence a higher position in Yahoo, Bing and Google.
And they only SHARE when you have a website which they like to read.
Now you also know why social media is important; and be careful; it can also work against you if you do not offer a genuine product or service! So behave.
And since YOU ARE THE EXPERT in your field; the only one who can write good content for your website is YOU!
Yes you should read that last sentence again; SEO companies can not write good articles for someone else.
HOWEVER: you still need an SEO expert to make your website rank higher than ‘the genuine websites from your competitors’…
